  • The upper abdominal scan will include, where possible, assessment of:

    • Biliary tree

    For this appointment you will be required to FAST for 4-6 hours. Instructions for this will be discussed with you prior to your scan.

    If you are experiencing abdominal pain we always advise you discuss this with a medical professional in the first instance.

  • A Pelvic scan will include, where possible, assessment of:

    • The uterus

    • The inner lining of the uterus (endometrium)

    • The ovaries

    This scan requires a FULL BLADDER. Instructions on how to achieve this will be discussed with you prior to your scan.

    This scan may involve a transvaginal scan. If this is required, our sonographer will explain the procedure to you fully.

    We may also need to look at your kidneys, if this is required, our sonographer will explain the reason for this.

    If you are experiencing bloating or pain we advise you discuss this with your GP.

    If you are post-menopausal and are experiencing bleeding, please discuss this with your GP urgently.

Muscolo-Skeletal (MSK) Ultrasound Services

All of our MSK scans at Moray Ultrasound are performed by an experience sonographer who will provide you with a detailed report following your appointment.   • An MSK (musculoskeletal) ultrasound of the shoulder and upper arm is a safe, painless, and highly effective way to assess soft tissue structures such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bursae. It is commonly used to investigate shoulder pain, restricted movement, or injuries affecting the upper arm.

    This scan can help identify conditions such as:

    • Rotator cuff tears or tendinopathy

    • Shoulder impingement

    • Bursitis (inflammation of the fluid-filled sacs)

    • Muscle or tendon injuries in the upper arm

    • Calcifications or degenerative changes

    • Joint effusions (fluid in the joint)
